Autumn Lemkin may become the second most expensive procurement player in Ukraine this summer. That's according to local media on Thursday. According to reports, the 20-year-old defender, who will undergo medical tests today ahead of signing with the club, will be purchased from Hapoel Tel Aviv for €1.2 million.
Lemkin's release clause from Hapoel Tel Aviv was around 850,<> euros, but according to reports Shakhtar agreed to pay a higher amount in exchange for a higher percentage of his future sale.

Ukraine believes that Patrick van Leeuwen, Shakhtar coach since last summer, pushed for Lemkin's signing thanks to his familiarity with the Israeli market. According to the plan of the former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach, Lemkin will initially fit in from the bench, but could become a player in the starting line-up as early as this season if the plan to sell senior defender Mykola Matviyenko materializes.
Matviyenko's market cap is estimated at around 20 million euros, and Shakhtar will likely have to sell him to cope with the heavy losses accumulated over the past year as a result of the war.
